Does God care about your hairstyle?
We are now on our third week of hosting a small and friendly Sunday Bible study. It started in our apartment and we've now moved it to a cafe in town. So far we've got the good food, and the good chai...and we're believing for the good company!
This past weekend we had four young guys attend. It's a humble beginning, but with God bringing the right people we have potential to impact lives with His love for eternity.
We read some encouraging words from Isaiah 43: Gods great love for us, that He has redeemed us and bought us with a price. That we don't have to fear, cause no matter what comes our way He is there as our protector and savior.
We are getting to know one young guy that we met while he was playing in a friends jazz band. He has dread locks and shared that he has had many bad experiences in church.
Does our hairstyle really matter to God? He's been judged and chased by the church... yes, Christians. It was our joy to speak truth to him that God doesn't look at our outer appearance, or our education, or our family or money situation... but only at our heart!
Does this love letter from God (found in Isaiah 43) sound like he cares if we twist, straighten or curl our hair?
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end— Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
“So don’t be afraid: I’m with you.
